A REFORMED drug addict and criminal who now preaches to troubled addicts and prisoners has been allegedly attacked by one of the men he was trying to help.

Kevin Mudford, alias Mad Dog, suffered a fractured skull and eye socket as well as facial injuries after he was allegedly bashed with a brick following a counselling session at Morisset on Saturday.

Hornsby man Kim Makaroff, 24, was later charged with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent to do so and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail in Newcastle Local Court yesterday to reappear on April 23.

It will be alleged Makaroff attacked his victim with a brick following the counselling session at Lake Macquarie Recovery Centre about 8.30pm.

He was in John Hunter Hospital last night in a stable condition.
