A DRUG addict who committed two hold-ups armed with a syringe, one filled with his own blood, had been living on the street when the offences took place, a court heard yesterday.

Luis Falk-Meyn, 19, formerly of Mayfield, has pleaded guilty in Newcastle District Court to two counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

On May 24 last year, he took $400 after threatening a female shop assistant at Shah's Supa Save Store at Adamstown.

Four days later, Falk-Meyn stole $1060 in cash after threatening the female shop assistant at the Adamstown Friendly Grocer with a blood-filled syringe.

Her father, the store's owner, chased him from the shop.

The court heard at his sentencing hearing yesterday that Falk-Meyn was on a bond at the time of the offences, which took place within a fortnight of him being released from jail.

The matter was adjourned to next Thursday.
